Titanium has a number of unique properties, among them high strength and light weight. But it also has the ability to change colour. Heat treating titanium changes the surface from gunmetal grey to purple, blue and finally rusty yellow. As this is only a surface treatment the colour can be removed from exposed areas leaving coloured channels and protected areas
