Titanium has a number of unique properties - among them high strength and light weight - but also the ability to change colour. Heat treating titanium changes the surface from gunmetal grey to purple, blue and finally rusty yellow. As this is only a surface treatment the colour can be removed from exposed areas leaving coloured channels and protected areas
