Ayr Bridge Ring
Named after a mythical structure in a historic poem, the Ayr Bridge design was inspired by a design challenge- how to create a piece that could accommodate a larger stone (and its depth) whilst maintaining a streamlined physical presence. Maintaining the intrinsic curves of the ring to become the setting itself proved a beautiful way to achieve this idea. The next challenge was to invent a setting technique that would keep the stone completely secure. Traditional approaches would not have been adequate, so a modified tension setting was created that allows both arcs of the bridge to hold the stone elevated and secure.
